Durog Farmers Association to supply trading post with organic vegetables

The Durog United Farmers Association will soon supply organic vegetables at the trading post of Tradetown Dalipe, San Jose de Buenavista. 20 of the farmers from the association had undergone training from the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) in the production of organic vegetables.

The project was funded by the Local Government Unit of San Jose de Buenavista with the strong support from Mayor Elmer C. Untaran while initial outputs and equipment were granted by the Department of Agriculture.

Barangay Durog was chosen for the project since it is the best site for organic farming.◙



MENRO conducts SPES Environmental Leadership activity

The Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office conducted a Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) Environmental Leadership activity. It was a 3 day activity for the students under the SPES of the municipality and aimed to equip the youth to be future leaders with knowledge in protecting the environment.

Resource speakers from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Environment Management Bureau oriented the students with the Environmental Laws that governs in their respective Barangays, Municipality, Province and our nation. Topics on the importance of marine ecosystem and how marine creatures help maintain its balance were also taught to the students.

An environmental walk was also done. It was  clean-up activity in the major thoroughfares of San Jose de Buenavista and Tradetown Market. The 212.5 kilograms of wastes that were collected by the students was then segregated. The plastic wastes were used to make bottle bricks.

The students then joined the Brigada Eskwela. The bottle bricks that were made was then used to build a bench in 4 primary Schools of San Jose de Buenavista.◙
